Joe Carl Cox, Jr., 78, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.
Carl was a lifelong resident of Richmond Hill. He worked in the timber industry and owned J.C. Cox Logging for fifty years. He was an active member of Richmond Hill First Baptist Church. He was on the Board of Directors of Bryan Bank and Trust, and an ordained Deacon. His passion was woodworking but more than anything he loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Carl Cox.
Carl is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Willa Cox; daughter, Kathie Burnsed and husband Todd; six grandchildren, 1st Lt., USAF, Kenneth Christopher Cox, Kourtnie Cox, Sgt. PWPD Kody Williams, Brandon Cox, Victoria Beasley, and Kory Williams; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow in Richmond Hill First Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Richmond Hill First Baptist Church Debt Retirement Fund, c/o Finance, Post Office Box 1390, Richmond Hill, GA 31324.
