Dorothy Boulden Wood

Mrs. Dorothy Boulden Wood, 81, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Saturday, July 18, 2020, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Nash County, NC, she was a resident of Hinesville for nearly 50 years and was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Franklin Wood, her son-in-law Ronald E. Griffin, her father George Louis Boulden, and her mother Beulah Boulden Price.

Dorothy was the owner of Dorothy’s Accounting Service from 1980 to 2002, at which time she retired. She also held several positions for the military when her husband Franklin was stationed in Germany and held Top Secret Clearance while serving under the commanding General over the military post in Nuremburg, Germany as both his Classified Documents Custodian and Physical Security Specialist.  She received several awards from the Department of the Army for her service.  She also worked for the Hinesville newspaper now known as the Coastal Courier when it was The Liberty County Herald.

She left her memories to her loved ones, her daughter, Juanita Vanessa Griffin of Glennville; grandchildren, Becky Marie Poole (Victor) of Swainsboro, David Eugene Griffin (Crystal) of Reidsville, and Jimmy Louis Griffin (Kayla) of Tennessee; great-granddaughters, Macy Kersey and Paisleigh Griffin of Reidsville; a sister, Nancy Aycock, and a brother, George Thomas Boulden (Donna), both of North Carolina; Daniel Girard of Vermont and Sonia Little of Macon, who were like a son and daughter to Dorothy; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will begin at 11 am, Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Burial will follow in Hinesville Cemetery.  Due to restrictions set in place during the current COVID19 health crisis, attendance at the funeral home is limited.  The public is invited to join us via livestream at https://www.facebook.com/cfhbchapel2.
