Anneliese Glenk D'Angelo

Anneliese D’Angelo (Glenk) died at home with Family Sunday night. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Stephen; her son, Marvin and his wife Elzbieta; and grandchildren, Nicole, Adrianne, and Annaliese. She is also survived by her sister, Else Kohnlein; brother, Gerhardt Glenk in Germany; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Rosa and Hugo Glenk of Germany; and her daughter, Cornelia. She was also preceded by some of her dear family friends, Maria Etheridge known to many as her Bobsy Twin, Betty Hancock, Monse, and Leyda Jimenez. 

Anneliese and Stephen met and married in Germany. She followed her husband to the United States in 1959. Throughout her husband's military service, she moved from New York to New Jersey, Texas, South Carolina, and even returned to Germany for a few years.  They finally settled down and made a permanent home in Hinesville, Georgia after retiring from the military. Anneliese has been in Hinesville longer than any other place, making this truly her home. She took pride in starting her flower garden throughout the years even receiving YARD OF THE MONTH once or twice. Feeding the birds as well as bringing dogs into her home was another interest. She has nurtured a love of animals in her children and grandchildren. She currently has three grand dogs: Rusty, Leo, and Rocky who will miss her. She was preceded in death by her beloved dogs and grand dogs Heidi, Fritzi, Hoover, Bear, Patches, Yoko, Buster, and Bernie.

She was a devoted Army and Truck Driver’s wife holding down the household and two growing kids while supporting her husband's career as a soldier then a truck driver. She assisted with the Cub Scouts as a Den mother. Once her children were grown, she devoted her time to her faith becoming a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church Choir, Council of Catholic Women (CCW), Silver Liners, and St. Stephen’s Closet. She enjoyed the outreach these groups provided allowing her to help her community.

She has made many friends most of whom she kept in contact with until her death.  Many she came to know as family. She was known by her friends to make one of the Best Cheesecakes, often requested by friends for special events. She loved to cook and bake for family and friends. 

A Rosary Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023 with the visitation following until 7:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. A reception will follow the Mass in the church social hall.
