Yvonne Strickland Madson

Yvonne Edith Strickland Madson, 80, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at home peacefully in her sleep under the care of Your Family Hospice of Hinesville after a four month battle with liver and kidney disease.

Yvonne was born in Liberty County on October 28, 1941 to Wallace Alonzo (WA) Strickland and Marjorie Edith Price Strickland. She was a homemaker who loved to read, sew, and craft. She supported several sports programs and church functions. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to everyone she met. Yvonne is described as a sweet lady who always had a smile and a helping hand.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Elroy James (Jim) Madson; and her mother and father.

Yvonne is survived by her three children, James Madson (Julie) of North Carolina, Marjorie Woody (Buck) of Florida, and Theresa Glandon of Hinesville; brothers and sister, Wallace Strickland (Sheila) of Riceboro, Linda Richardson of Hinesville, and Buster Strickland (Sharyl) of Riceboro; grandchildren, Sarah Madson Hichman (Chance), Robin Glandon, Daniel Madson (Frida), Christina Woody Seis (David), Joshua Glandon (Callista), and Laura Madson; great- grandchildren, Oakley Hichman, Holly Hichman, Robin Cochran, and Autumn Hichman; adopted great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Cochran and Shiloh Cochran; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with Reverend Ben Beasley officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Hinesville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rob Noggle, Gary Richardson, Jonathan Richardson, BJ Strickland, Clint Durrence, and Patrick Zoucks.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of New Grounds Hunting Club.
