Sheila K. Williams

Sheila Karen Williams passed away on Tuesday May 17, 2022 at Memorial Health University in Savannah, GA at the age of 56.

Sheila was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born in Ft. Hood, Texas on September 1, 1965 to Robert and Inge Lyall, the last of their five natural born children (or second youngest of six). Sheila married the love of her life, Corey Williams on July 23, 1987 at the age of 21 and they traveled soon after to his new duty station in Germany. They decided to settle in Hinesville, GA upon his retirement from the US Army. They traveled to many places, went on many adventures, and made countless memories.

Sheila was active in her bowling league, even when she began having health problems, she refused to let it stop her from being with her friends, whom many she considered family. She will be sorely missed, and fondly remembered, by everyone she touched.

She loved to spend time with her grandchildren; they were the light of her life. The smile that would illuminate her face at the sight of them was so infectious; it couldn’t help but spread throughout the room. She would constantly offer to keep them, many times for longer than was intended, and they would often come back spoiled in ways only a Grandmother can.

Sheila was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lyall.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Corey Williams; mother, Inge Lyall; sisters, Carmen Petru, Martina Lyall-Renick, Brenda Sims, and Christine Miller; brother, Brandyn Lyall; two children, Adam Williams, and Hope Williams; and two grandchildren, Morgan Allen and Augustus Williams.

Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Burial will follow in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, GA.
