Richard Gerald Sechler

Richard Gerald Sechler, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Belvedere Island in Townsend, GA, on March 24, 2025. He is survived by his beloved son, Ricky, his step-sister, Karen Graham, his sisters-in-law, Sung Rearley and Sung Clark, and his cherished nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 28 years, Kum Cha Yang, his parents, Gerald Sechler and Molly Eurick, his stepfather, Charles Hoester, and his stepbrother, Chuck Hoester.

Richard proudly & honorably served in the United States Navy for 24 years, achieving the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer before transitioning to the Fleet Reserve. He achieved an Associates in Business Management from San Diego Mesa College and was a member of the American Legion. In his personal life, Richard found joy in fishing, football, and the deep friendships he cultivated over the years. He was a loving companion to his dog, Mel, who brought him comfort and companionship.

Richard will be laid to rest with honors at Beaufort National Cemetery on April 1, 2025. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
