Penny Wells Hickey

Penny Lucille Wells Hickey, 61, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, GA after a sudden illness.

Penny was born in Jesup, GA on June 14, 1960 to Theodore Russell Wells, Jr. and Latrelle M. Wells and was the first of three children. She was a lifelong resident of Gumbranch, GA.  Throughout her life, Penny’s love for the Lord, family and friends was never questioned and she touched the hearts of everyone she met.

She loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. She had a passion for gardening, spending time outside, playing the piano, and quilting. Her children and grandchildren were a great source of happiness and she spent time with them whenever possible. Penny was a selfless servant of the Lord; a caring beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Penny was preceded in death by her mother, Latrelle Wells.
Penny is survived by her father, Theodore R Wells Jr.; brother, Rick Wells; sister, Suzanne Hunt; four children, Amy Jaeger (Ben), Jessica Woods, James Penley (Kaitlin), and Stephanie Beaudry (Anthony); and thirteen grandchildren, Shelby, Aubrey, Jacob, Ty, Garrett, Tatum, Heaven, Jude, Dahlia, Jaylin, River, Aaron, and Paisley.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with Clay Rowe officiating. Penny’s family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Gumbranch, GA.
