On Thursday, June 2, 2022, Paulette Ruth Turk Stetzer passed away at her home in Hinesville at the age of 78. Paulette was born on July 30, 1943 in Ludowici, Georgia, to Paul and Martha Miles Turk. She received her teaching degree from Georgia Southern and went on to teach for 29 years at Bradwell Institute. On December 20, 1963 she married John W. Stetzer, Jr. They raised two children, John (Johnny) W. Stetzer III and Jill Nicole Stetzer in Hinesville until they graduated from college and moved to the locations of their new careers, Johnny in California and Jill in San Antonio, Texas.
Paulette was passionate about her love for God, taught the Merry Makers Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Hinesville and participated in many bible studies and conferences. She was also passionate about her family and friends, her fur babies, reading, Star Trek, and Westerns among many other interests. For those who didn’t know her well, she may have appeared rather timid or reserved, but she had a wonderful sense of humor, got “tickled” often, and offered a deep wisdom to those who sought out her counsel.
Paulette was preceded in death by her father and mother Paul and Martha Turk; and her sister Vivian Turk Shuman (all who no doubt immediately met her in her heavenly home upon her return there). She is survived by her husband John of Hinesville; her two children, Johnny of Hinesville and Jill of San Antonio, Texas; her sister Anita (Robert) Wiggins of Statesboro; and two nephews Bryan (Addie) Wiggins of Bellville and Chad (Nancy) Wiggins of Statesboro and their families.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Paulette’s family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 8819 US Hwy 301, Glennville, GA.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Fraser Counseling Center, 203 Mary Lou Drive, Hinesville, GA 31313, (912-369-7777).
