Mikel Wilson Maney

Mikel Wilson Maney, born on April 26, 1955, in Hinesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many with his warmth and kindness.

Mikel’s educational journey culminated in his graduation from Bradwell Institute, where he was a member of the Class of 1975. Following his graduation, he dedicated over four decades of his life to hard work and commitment. He spent 19 years at Red White Grocery Store, which laid the groundwork for his future endeavors. Mikel then transitioned to Choo Choos of Hinesville, where he would become a well-respected figure, ultimately retiring after 29 years of service in 2021.

His career was marked not only by his dedication but also by the friendships and bonds he built along the way. Mikel when not working took delight in the simple pleasures of life. His interests included watching cartoons, enjoying wrestling matches, and laughing along with the antics of The Three Stooges.

Mikel is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Marlene Maney, their two children, Michael Maney (Melissa) and Chuckie Maney (Nickie), and a cherished array of grandchildren: Maison Collin, Jason Jasper, Jairin, Tasha Caviler (Kyle), Logan Cavileer, Carson Caviler, Ann Marie, and Kayleigh. Additionally, he took great pride in being a grandfather to three great-grandchildren: Addison, Nova, and Declan, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He is also survived by his sister, Lillian Heim (James), his sister, Sarah Wong (Rawl), and his brother, Ronny Maney  (Sherry).

Mikel was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson Maney and Cathrine Clark Maney, his granddaughter, Heidi Maney, and his brother, Dale Maney. 

Family will recive frends starting at 3:00 p.m. on Monday February 24, 2025 at Carter Funeral Home.

Funeral Servces will be held on Monday February 24, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Gabe Gill officiating.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the  American Cancer Society.
