Michael Corrigan

Michael Corrigan, 60, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Savannah on June 7, 2022. He was a resident of Richmond Hill, Georgia.  Michael was a decorated veteran who served in Beirut, Lebanon and dedicated 11 years of his life to faithful service in the United States Marine Corps.

After serving in Beirut, Lebanon, with the Peacekeeping Force, Michael was assigned to Embassy Security Duty at the United States Embassy in Iceland. At the conclusion of his military career, Michael continued a life in service of others as a volunteer firefighter, EMT and Deputy Sheriff in Northampton County, Virginia.  In his retirement, nothing gave him greater joy than spending time with his granddaughter, Brynja Grace and his Westie, Fearghus.

Michael was the son of the late Gerard and Helen Corrigan of Melfa, Virginia. He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Barbara; his son Steindor and daughter-in-law Marica; beloved granddaughter, Brynja; his former spouse, Gudfinna Gisladottir of Reykjavik, Iceland; and stepson, Victor. In addition, Michael is survived by his brother, Sean and his wife, Barbara; niece, Katherine; nephew, Daniel; and his sister, Mary and her partner, Beth Steckley.  Michael was preceded in death by his stepson, Gisli.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel. Burial with Military Honors will take place at 3:00 pm in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia.
