Marlene Chancey Tillman

Marlene Tillman, 78, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. 

Marlene was born on October 20, 1943 in Baxley, GA and has lived the past fifty-four years in Liberty County. She was a former member of Friendship Baptist Church. For over thirty years she worked for the Liberty County Board of Education as a ParaPro and driving school buses. She enjoyed crafting, quilting, and growing flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, John D. Tillman, Sr.; son, Dave Tillman; and brother, Buddy Chancey.

Marlene is survived by two sons, Doug Tillman (Kelly), and Del Tillman (Darrell Burnette); four grandchildren, Lauren Tillman, Leah Roberts (Kevin), D.J. Tillman, and Devin Tillman (Aubree); three great-grandchildren, Olivia and Lucas Roberts, and Bennett Tillman; two sisters, Connie Chancey and Vicki Chancey; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.  Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with Reverend Ronnie Rentz officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery.
