Lynette Wells Clark, 83, passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2025. She was born on June 2, 1941, in Jesup, Georgia to the late Quinton and Neal Wells of Hinesville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Larry Wells of Hinesville, sister Cynthia Wells Eblin of Greenville, SC, and her beloved daughter Angie Dixon.
Lynette was a 1959 graduate of Bradwell Institute and met Dan Clark at the end of his time in the Army at Fort Stewart. After a brief courtship, they married in November, 1960 and moved to Miamisburg, Ohio, where they would live until returning to Hinesville in 1971. They moved to and have remained in Riceboro since the early 1980s. Lynette started her career working for J. Sidney Flowers, Attorney at Law, which she continued until her retirement. Many treasured friends were made during those years in the Courthouse.
Much like her mother, Lynette never met a stranger. The family joke was that she could be in a store line with someone and by the time they were checked out would know their entire life story. Much fun was had through the years, always with Dan by her side. There was Recreation Department softball team coaching, golf at Cherokee Rose Country Club, golf trips with the Cheatin’ Dozen, fishing trips in the Coastal Georgia waters, neighborhood gatherings in Riceboro, Rodeo Wednesdays, lunch outings with courthouse friends and Bradwell classmates, and fellowship with their Riceboro Presbyterian Church family. Lynette was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lynette is survived by her husband Dan; daughter Leslie (Gary) Cheek of Pooler; son-in-law Ralph Dixon of Hinesville; grandchildren Justin (Bethany) Harriman of Glennville, Geoffrey (Ashley) Harriman of Ludowici, Blake Cheek of Reston, VA, Chris (Nathalie) Cheek of Berryville, VA, Joey (Whitnie) Dixon of Greenville SC, and Jennie (Jason) Samuels of Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law Bill Eblin of Greenville, SC, sister-in-law Patsy Clark of Richmond Hill; siblings Charlotte (Sam) Feigles of Riceboro, Leland (Wanda) Wells of Melbourne, FL, and Michael (Vonice) Wells of Washington, GA; and her cherished great-grandchildren Hanna, Jared, Emery, Grady, Brennan, Bryson, and Brooke.
Active pall bearers will be Justin Harriman, Geoffrey Harriman, Blake Cheek, Chris Cheek, Jared Harriman, and Ralph Dixon.
The family wishes to thank Georgia Hospice Care for their compassionate care and support, and also private caregiver Angel Hines and her team for being there when we needed them the most.
