Larry Randolph Golden, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, community member, avid tree farmer, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. He was 74 years old .
Born in Tift County Hospital, Larry was a lifelong Georgian. He was a member of Avalon Methodist Church in Albany, Georgia. He graduated from Albany High School in 1968, where he played football. Attended Albany Junior College. He furthered his education at the University of Georgia, earning a Bachelors degree in Accounting in 1972. A Certified Public Accountant, for 52 years, tree farmer , entrepreneur, Larry's career was marked by his dedication and diverse interests.
Larry married his beloved wife, 52 years ago on December 16,1972. The couple moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia in 1972, where Larry worked for Schell & Hogan, CPA's of Brunswick, Georgia. They were active members of St. Simons United Methodist Church where Larry and Martha served as youth counselors. Larry was a member of the St. Simons Jaycees. In November 1975 , they relocated to Hinesville, when Larry opened a branch of Schell & Hogan and became a pillar of the community. In 1993 Larry opened his own CPA firm, Golden & Associates CPA's.
In Hinesville, Larry was a member of the Hinesville United Methodist Church, youth counselor, Hinesville Jaycees, Hinesville Rotary Club, and New Ground Hunting Club. He Served on the Board of Directors of the Mary Lou Fraser Foundation for Families and the Bryant Foundation, and assisted the Whit Fraser family in establishing the Hinesville YMCA and Fraser Counseling Center.
Larry was a man of many interests including hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, traveling with his family and friends, genealogy, reading the Bible and discussing scripture.
Larry is preceded by his parents Johnny and Emma Golden.
Larry is survived by his wife, Martha Coleman Golden of Albany, Georgia.; His sons, William Nathan Golden (Amanda) of Beaufort, S.C. and Zachary Ross Golden (Liz) of Marietta, Georgia; his grandchildren Everly and Max Golden. Sisters Sandra (Tom) Dickerson of Villa Rica and Kathy (Dan) Garrett of Sugar Hill, Georgia several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday February 10, 2025 at 4-7 p.m. in the evening at the Hinesville Methodist Church.
Funeral Serves on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Hinesville Methodist Church Larry will lie-in-state for 30 minutes prior to the service.
