Joseph A. Surzinski, Jr. (SSG, U.S. Army, Ret.)

SSG Joseph A. Surzinski, Jr. (U.S. Army, Retired), 80, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at home.

Joseph was born on June 5, 1941 in Marion Heights, PA and for the past forty-five years he lived in Hinesville. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant and while serving his country he did three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a decorated Veteran having received the Bronze Star with Valor, and a Purple Heart, along with several other medals. He went on to work for the Hinesville Police Department and retired after twenty years. He was of Catholic faith. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Carol Surzinski; one son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Renee Surzinski; two granddaughters, Makayla and Hailey; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private.
