John William Seward, 84, of Shellman Bluff, GA passed away at his home on Thursday, April 20, 2023 after a short illness.
Born on February 7, 1939 in Delhi, NY, John was the son of Alive and Mary Seward. He was married to Ellie Joann Crosby Seward for 35 years. They shared four children, Billy Seward, Cassie Carmichael, Jacob Futch, and Robbie Futch all of Hinesville, GA.
John served in the U.S. Army for 22 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the American Legion Riders Motorcycle Club – Post 168, VFW 6602, and he was also a member of the Coastal Wings.
John loved his family and was a dedicated husband, proud father and grandfather, loving son, and brother. His special hobbies were golf, fishing, reading, and riding motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Seward; parents, Alive and Mary Seward; grandson, Dylan Seward; sister, Nancy Newman; and brother, Thomas Seward.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ellie Joann Seward; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Ed Seward (Percy) of Union Springs, NY; and three sisters, Ruth Manning (Kenny) of Bainbridge, NY; Barbara Seward of Sidney, NY, and Winifred Manneci of Oneonta, NY.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service with Full Military Honors will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel.
