Irma Mincey, 73, of Hinesville, GA passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren after a long illness.
Irma was a retired nurse of 30 years. She spent most of her life taking care of others. She was a very strong woman and a recent COVID-19 survivor. She fought valiantly until the end of her illness. More importantly, Irma was a loving mother and grandmother. She adored her grandchildren with a passion. She loved every animal she ever came in contact with. To put it lightly, Irma had the biggest heart for God’s creatures, two-legged or four, she loved them all. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and growing flowers.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Avery Mincey, Sr.; infant son, Christopher Eugene Kinchen; two sisters, Willie Lee Smith and Helen McCullough; and one brother, Reggie Crosby.
She is survived by her children, Joseph Dewey Kinchen and Christa Eugena Wilkinson; three grandsons, Franklin Dalton Wilkinson, Robert Kenny Wilkinson, and Charles Alexander Kinchen; granddaughter, Jessie Lee Wilkinson; THE GREATEST son-in-law, Kenny Wilkinson; daughter-in-law, Brenda Kinchen; and two sisters, Betty Shuman and Dorothy Smith.
Mama often said, “Don’t bring flowers to my grave, give them to me while I’m alive.” In lieu of flowers, Irma’s family is asking for donations to be made in her honor to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, https://www.lbda.org/donate/#.
