Ines’ Cecilia Harris, a beloved matriarch and dedicated member of her community, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family under the care of GHC hospice. A native of Panama, born on May 27, 1938, Ines’ led a life filled with love, creativity, and a commitment to both her family and her craft.
Ines’ was known for her entrepreneurial spirit as she owned and operated Ines’ Tailor Shop for over 40 years and brought joy to many through her work and the local community. Her skill not only highlighted her artistic flair but also her ability to connect with people in a meaningful way. Ines’ was happily married to Thomas B. Harris for 65 years. Of the 65 years, Thomas B. Harris served honorably with Ines’ by his side traveling the world together for 22 years. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ines’ had a vibrant personal life. She was an active participant in a women's bowling league on Fort Stewart, where she forged lasting friendships and shared many memorable moments. She was also an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and loved traveling and shopping.
Ines’ was deeply devoted to her family, which included her cherished children: Bernard Harris of Colorado Springs; Sharon Harris of Hinesville; Dean Harris of Hinesville; Samantha King (CJ) of Fernandina, Florida; and Selina Bland (Thomas) of Elgin, SC. She was a proud grandmother to ten grandkids—Tommy, Danny, Colton, Melissa, Brad, Cameron, Bruce, Ryan, Alexis, and Zachery—and the joyful grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. Ines’ is survived by two sisters, Doris Klosek of Hinesville and Leyda Wilcox of Ludowici, in addition to having brothers residing in Panama, who were her confidantes and friends throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas B. Harris, whose memory she cherished.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on December 18, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Carter Funeral Home, located at 308 West Oglethorpe hwy, Hinesville, GA 31313. Following the visitation, a burial service will be held at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 8819 U.S. 301 in Glennville, GA, starting at 3:00 PM.
Ines’ Cecilia Harris will be remembered not only for her contributions to her community and her family but for the love and warmth she shared with everyone she met. Her legacy of kindness and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
