Celebrating the Life of Herbert Edward Williamson
Herbert “Herbie” Williamson was born April 1, 1969, in Queens, NY. He was the third of six children born to proud parents, Ruby and (the late) Herbert Wilson. A longtime Queensbridge resident, he graduated from Long Island City High School. After high school, he worked for the NYC Department of Human Resources. After some time, he finally settled in Hinesville, GA, and, at the time of his passing, he was employed by SNF Holding Company (Chemtall).
A true force of nature, Herbie brought life to every room he entered. He loved his family and could often be found somewhere between the center of one gathering cooking and planning the next one. His dishes always stole the show! He could be counted on to be there for you whenever needed and was considered by many to be a true friend. He gave the best of himself to us.
Herbie was our comet: He came into our lives, illuminated everything, and was gone.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert, and brother, Clarence (Draws) Williamson.
He will be greatly missed by his mother Ruby; brothers, Ronald and Curtis; sisters, Monica and Kim; his children, Herbert (Kiara, Shawn, La’Mere, and Kyrie), Quayvon (Payton and Tahniya), Dashia (Jeremy and Jace), Ruby, and Ashley; bonus sons, Anterio, Jacob, and Antonio; 17 nieces and nephews, ten great- nieces and -nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Funeral Services for Herbie will held Monday, March 16, 2020, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 11am. The funeral service follow at noon.
Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.carteroglethorpe.com.
