Harry T. Owen (SFC, U.S. Army, Ret.)

SFC Harry T. Owen, (U.S. Army, Retired), 92, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

He was born on April 3, 1930 in Memphis, TN and lived the past forty-seven years in Hinesville. Harry served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Army. During his service, he received a Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, and was a Mason. Harry enjoyed playing golf and fishing.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Owen and Cherry Owen.

Harry is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Betty Owen; son, Philip Owen (Beverly); daughter, Lori Sandeen; and several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial with Full Military Honors will immediately follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Park Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, Harry’s family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association, Post Office Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
