Glory Jernigan Smith, 86, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021.
Glory traveled with her husband after he retired from the military as he worked for Saudi Airlines and Tower Air. In 1982, they retired to Camden, SC until her husband’s death in 2019. She loved being a military wife and was very involved in her children’s sports activities. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, sewing, crocheting, and liked to needlepoint when she was younger. Her greatest joy was spending time with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, Retired CMSGT Robert H. Smith Sr.; parents, Bruce L. Jernigan, Sr. and Audrey Smith Jernigan; brother, Bruce L. Jernigan, Jr.; two sisters, Thelma Clark and Lutrelle Snedeker; three sons, Nathaniel Smith, Robert H. Smith, Jr., and Joseph Smith; one daughter, Judy Branham; and two granddaughters, Joy Smith and Taylor Branham.
She is survived by one son, David Smith (Dawn) of Mouth of Wilson, VA; one daughter; Brucelle Finch of Richmond Hill, GA; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Loretta Bader.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel. The family will receive friends for thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow in Lower Black Creek Cemetery in Ellabell, GA.
Social distancing practices will be in place and masks are required to enter the funeral home.
