Dr. George Tichenor

Dr. George JW Tichenor, 79, a resident of Hinesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 after a battle with cancer.

George was born in Plainfield, New Jersey on July 10, 1943. He received his undergraduate at Northwestern, and graduate and doctorate at Purdue. George worked as a Senior Application Scientist at SNF Holdings for the past twenty-six years where he was lovingly known to all as Dr. George. Prior employers include Allied Chemical in Syracuse, New York, Rhône-Poulenc in New Jersey and Nelco in Illinois. George was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hinesville, Georgia where he was an usher. He was a huge Chicago Cubs fan, lover of all thing’s chocolate, and lifetime collector of baseball cards.

George’s family would like to extend a warm thank you for all the help and assistance through this difficult time to First Baptist Church of Hinesville and SNF Holdings. 

He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Gould, and her son Jerry; and four stepdaughters, Jennifer, Christina, Jessica and Danielle.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. George's family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
