Fraley (Dibe) Clyde Vandyke

On May 8th 2022, Fraley Clyde Vandyke “Dibe” went home to his Savior following a courageous battle with cancer. 

Fraley was born October 29, 1952 in Vansant, VA, the first son of Clyde and Delphia (Hale) Vandyke. A graduate of Grundy High School, he served in the US Army from which he was honorably discharged.  He was a coal miner for twenty years, a truck driver, and in 2009 he moved to Georgia to live with his sister Linda, working as both a property manager for her and a dock builder over the years. 

Dibe loved the outdoors and had a green thumb for gardening. Always exploring new interests, he taught himself how to play piano and build his own computers.  A gentle spirit with a heart of gold, no one can recall him speaking an unkind word of anyone.

Predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law Charles Danny Varney, Dibe's memory will be cherished by his sisters Judy (Jerry) Roulett of Abingdon VA, Brenda Stiltner of Abingdon VA, Linda Varney of Midway GA, Rhonda Vandyke of Richlands VA, and Dana (Robert) Worley of Lawrenceville GA, his brother Barry Vandyke of Vansant VA, and numerous nieces and nephews, many with children of their own and all of whom adored their Uncle Dibe. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel in Hinesville. Rev. Dennis Heimmerman will officiate with burial following in Hinesville Cemetery.   Pallbearers will be Kenneth Roulett, Jared Bailey, Hunter Mixon, Christopher Bell, Timothy Gore, and Matt Desbiens.  

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to GHC Hospice, 141 S Macon Street, Jesup, GA 31545 in recognition of their wonderful care for our loved one.
