Dr. William "Bill" Wege

Dr. William Ernst Wege,72, of Hinesville, GA passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA.

William was known as Bill to his friends, and Grandpa to his five grandchildren. Bill was born in Milwaukee, WI to William Richard Wege and Doris Mae Mohr. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia Dental School in Augusta, GA and moved to Hinesville in 1974 where he practiced Dentistry until his retirement. 

Bill enjoyed hunting at New Ground Hunting Club, golfing at Cherokee Rose Country Club, gardening, his many pets, and all things Christmas. He was also a huge fan cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. But mostly, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Bill was a member of Flemington Presbyterian Church, the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, and the Hinesville Jaycees. 

Bill and his wife Carol Phillips Wege just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary; their four children are, Leigh Wege McKinney and Christopher McKinney of Columbus, GA, William Phillip Wege (Billy) of Orlando, FL, Laura Wege Voccio and Paul Voccio of Tidmarsh, England, and Richard Rembert Wege (Rick); Grandpa Bill adored his five grandchildren, Nolan McKinney, Isabella and Hannah Wege, Silas and Scarlett Voccio; Bill is also survived by his two sisters, Donna Mae Dudley (Calvin) of Boise, ID, and Linda Pritchard (Chip) of Louisville, GA; three nieces, and two nephews. 

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Carter Funeral Home, 308 West Oglethorpe Highway, Hinesville, GA 31313. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Flemington Presbyterian Church, 875 Old Sunbury Road, Hinesville, GA 31313 with Reverend Greg Loskoski officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Flemington Presbyterian Church.
