Doris Howze Pope, 78, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Abercorn Health and Rehab in Savannah, GA.
Doris lived most of her life in Liberty and Tattnall County. She was a member of Corner Stone Church in Glennville, GA. She enjoyed interior decorating and remodeling houses. She had a fondness for animals, especially stray cats.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Pope; and brother, Donald “Buddy” Howze.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Terry Pope; son, Stanley Pope both of Midway, GA; two grandchildren, Lisa Aldridge and Jace Pope; two great-grandchildren, Maylin and Sadie; brother, Larry “Rabbit” Howze of Bluffton, SC; two sisters, Joan Rushing of Sparta, GA and Vicky Meyer of Savannah, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with Reverend Winston Beasley officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow in Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery.
