Deborah Ann Miness, 68, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at her home in Hinesville, GA.
Debbie was a proud 1972 graduate of Bradwell Institute. She earned a degree in History from Armstrong Atlantic College and a Master’s Degree in Planning and Growth Management from Florida Atlantic University. Debbie was passionate about environmentally sensitive community growth and spent her career helping to make that happen.
In the 1980’s, with Dr. John DeGrove, she coauthored a book on growth management on the East Coast. Debbie returned to Hinesville to enjoy retirement. She served on boards and volunteered her time to encourage voter participation and public service.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton Harvey Miness and Annie Laurie Floyd Miness.
She is survived by her sister, Pamela Henderson (John); and many cousins, family members, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Carter Funeral Home. Debbie’s family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
