Ana Mery Rafuls Saavedra was born on Sunday, April 17, 1949 in Torococo, Venezuela. She was the eighth born out of sixteen children. She grew up milking cows on her father's farm and graduated as a dental hygienist. She became a mom of four boys: John, Jorge, Ricardo, and Carlos Touma who she dedicated her life to. Raising her four men as a single mom was one of her biggest accomplishments.
Ana was a very hard working woman who worked even harder when she decided to leave Venezuela to come to the United States in 1995. Ana and her boys settled in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She had many jobs, but made a name for herself when she became an entrepreneur by starting her own cleaning business. When she was not taking care of her boys or working she was in the Kingdom Hall where she met Roger Rafuls an elder in the congregation. The two wed in 2008 and unfortunately she became a widow after 6 years of being married. Ana retired from her cleaning business after 20 years. A year later Ana moved to Richmond Hill, GA where she lived with one of her sons, Ricardo and his family. The move provided her the opportunity to dedicate herself full time in preaching the word of Jehovah to all the people she met.
Ana was a happy grandmother to 13 grandchildren. She was nothing but an extraordinary grandmother to all of her grandkids and they loved her dearly. Ana loved to garden, shop, and spend time with family and her congregation. Ana had fabulous taste in fashion, looking glamorous anytime you saw her. She was an amazing woman who was the kindest and most loving person in the world. She sacrificed more than we will ever know. She always put others first and was there for anyone who needed her. She will truly be missed by everyone who loved and knew her!
