Winifred “Winnie” Crosby rested in the arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 6, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Miss Crosby was a 1976 graduate of Bradwell Institute and a lifelong resident of Liberty County. She was a member of Crossroads Holy Church of God where she taught Sunday school for many years. In 2018 she retired from the Hinesville Wal-Mart pharmacy after twenty years due to her illness, prior to that she worked at K-Mart in Hinesville. Miss Crosby enjoyed traveling and being around her family especially her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Beulah Crosby; brother, Dennis Crosby; and two sisters, Myrle Taylor and Marilyn Raider.
She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories, Joann Seward (John) of Shellman Bluff, GA, Mary Roark (Philip) of Malvern AR, Wanell Cummings of Hinesville, GA, Marie Cone (Hardy) of Statham, GA, Connie Thrift (John) of Liberty County and Faye Perry of Brunswick, GA; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Glen Carter and staff, Hospice Compassus and staff, and the staff of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Savannah for the love and care that was shown to our dear sister; and Pastor Newberry and Miss Crosby’s church family for their faithfulness and prayers.
A walk-through visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Crossroads Holy Church of God with Pastor Jeb Newberry officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Hinesville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Futch, Jacob Futch, Billy Seward, Ashley Lyons, Tony Perry, and Justin Thrift.
In lieu of flowers, Miss Crosby’s family requests donations be made to Crossroads Holy Church of God, 3278 John Wells Road, Hinesville, GA 31313.
