Montiene Godfrey McClard

July 1, 1962 — January 6, 2012

Montiene Godfrey McClard, 49, died Friday, January 6th due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Long County. Born in Dooley County, GA, she has spent most of her life in Ludowici. Montiene is a 1980 graduate of Ludowici High School. Of Baptist faith, she has served her county in the United States Army, worked as a professional chef, and has been a member of the Ladies Auxillary at the VFW post 6602 for the past 34 years. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and a good ride down a dirt road in a pickup truck. She is preceded in death by her father Elmer Godfrey, Jr. Montiene is survived by her three children, Charles David White, Jr., Amanda Stella Kane, and Gracey Sarah Montiene Bridges; five grandchildren; her mother, Grace Godfrey; sisters, Diann Jenkins, Alliene Morris and Sue Freund; brother, Ricky Godfrey; her best friend, Johnny Haymons; Prissy; and a host of nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday January 11th at 1:30 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Chad Chaffee, Deacon. Entombment will be at Oglethorpe Memorial Park. Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel will be serving the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ladies Auxillary of the VFW Post 6602 or the American Heart Association.
