SFC (ret) Clifford Dale Mackrill left this world on April 27, 2012, after a courageous struggle with poor health. He was born on December 27, 1962 in Fresno, California. He was a graduate in 1981 from Fresno High School. He began his career in 1982 with the United States Army Dental Corp and retired in Hinesville, Georgia after a very successful career. While in the military he completed an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts with the University of Maryland. Cliff mentored and inspired soldiers throughout his military career. His most fulfilling assignment was as an instructor at the AMEDD Center and School at Ft Sam Houston, Texas. There he taught dental hygiene expanded functions and particularly excelled at developing soldier to be leaders at the Basic Non Commission Officers Course. In June 1998 Cliff began a career in real estate. In 1999 he became a member of the Liberty County 1999 Million Dollar Club, was awarded Realty Executives Southern Region Certificate of Excellence, and became a Club Member of the top 10% of Realty Executives International. Cliff had a love for auctions and decided to make it a career. He attended Missouri Auction School, where he was awarded the title of Colonel. He established his auction business known as A to Z Auctions. After suffering great distress from the death of his father Clifford D Mackrill of Tollhouse, California and the demands of the business away from his family he closed his auction house. He continued his love for being an auctioneer part time by selling storage units contents in Valdosta, Georgia. His last storage unit sale in February was one of his best and gave him great joy. He loved the patrons that would come. He would tell funny stories and it is sad that we didnt write down his stories. After closing his auction house Cliff return to using the skills taught to him by his father as a teenager in the family window and screening business. He was employed with Exterior Innovations in Savannah as warehouse manager. He was recognized as Employee of the year for outstanding performance and dedication to outstanding customer service. Cliff met the love of his life Linda Michielsen Mackrill at his first military duty station, Ft Riley, Kansas, where they were both active duty. Ironically he was from the city and Linda was from a small country town in New York, they met in the middle in Kansas. They married on April 6, 1984. On their 24th wedding anniversary they renewed their vows at the Littlest Church in America, Darrien, Georgia. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Linda Mackrill of Hinesville, sons Joshua a freshman attending Georgia Southern University and Jacob a sophomore attending Liberty County High School. Sisters Cheryl Hart, Lori and husband Ed Unger; Brothers Tim and John Robertson all residents of California. Father-in-law Duane Michielsen, Mother-in-law Pearl and Richard VanDerMeere all of Upstate New York. Several aunts, uncles, sister and brother in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at the Carters Funeral Home, Oglethorpe Chapel, Hinesville, Georgia on May 20, 2012 at 3:30 pm. Cliffs father taught him that his family should always make life better for the next generation. In lieu of flowers or memorial a scholarship fund has been established in Cliffs memory to help support his sons to attend college. Joshua and Jacob will carry on their fathers legacy to make life better for generations to come.
