Dolores Anne Basche passed away October 9, 2012 under the care of Hospice Savannah surrounded by her loving family.
Dolores lived most of her life in NY, where she raised her family in Melville, NY. She moved to Thurso, Scottland were she helped her daughter Patty raise her children later moving them to Virginia Beach, VA. Afterwards, she moved to Richmond Hill, GA to help her daughter Margaret and her family in 1994. She worked as a greeter in the lawn and garden department at Walmart in Savannah. She worked through the closing of the store on Abercorn and then moving to the new store on Highway 17 in 2008. Both staff and customers loved her.
She also loved Hospice Savannah. She became a volunteer in 1998. She worked in any capacity from patient care to helping in parades in Bryan and Liberty Counties. She later volunteered at Hospice House assisting with patient care. Then she finished her course volunteering at Bryan County Health and Rehab. She received many awards over the years, including receiving her 2000 hour award in 1998.
She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Olsen of Richmond Hill, GA, ETC(SW)Patricia Bealin USN Retired of Hephzibah, GA, and Greta Olsen of Bellport, NY; grandchildren, Chirstopher Pace, Michael Pace, Mark Pace, Megan Walker, Elizabeth Bealin, and Jessica Bealin; one great grandchild, Marissa Taylor; a brother, Edward Basche; of Northport, NY; and two nieces, Laura Vando and Anne Marie Gallenstein.
Her memorial service will be held Saturday, November 17th at 2:00 p.m. at Hospice Savannah 1352 Eisenhower Dr. Savannah, GA 31406.
