Mr. Benjamin Casasnovas Soto, 96, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Hospice of the Golden Isles, Brunswick, Georgia. He was born on the 11th of February 1916. A native of Utuado, Puerto Rico, he migrated to Miami, Florida and later relocated to New York City, New York. There he worked as a building maintenance supervisor, and raised a family. Upon retirement Mr. Casasnovas, his wife Julia and three youngest children moved to Puerto Rico, and later, as he and his wife grew older, moved back to New York City. Since February 2010, after the passing of his wife Julia Casasnovas, age 73, now under the care of his youngest daughter, Evie, he moved to the Coastal Manor Nursing Home located in Ludowici, Georgia. On December 2012, as a result of his fading health, he was transferred to the Hospice of the Golden Isles, where he departed this life. He was the last surviving member of 24 brothers and sisters, and is survived by his children: Katharine, Benjamin, Evelyn, William, Lourdes, Elvie, Evie, and Christopher, 17 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel. A service will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel, to be officiated by 3ID Division Chaplain (LTC) John C. Molina.
