JOHN PATRICK LAVES John Patrick (Pat) Laves age 64 died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 10, 2013. Mr. Laves was born in Savannah on September 18, 1948. His proud parents were Ruth Clark Laves and John Joseph Laves. Pat was a true gift to his parents their entire life. Mr. Laves was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Mr. Laves was a graduate of Herschel V. Jenkins High School and Armstrong College where he majored in Political Science. He served honorably and proudly in the United States Air Force. After his military service he worked in security for most of his life. Pat retired as a Senior Team Leader for the Department of Safety and Security from St. Joseph/Candler Hospital after many years of dedicated service. Pat had a tremendous memory for facts and trivia. He was a sports, history and military history buff. Many enjoyable hours were spent in intricate painting and assembling important figures of history, military, and impressive models of our nation's Navy vessels and fighter planes. Pat shared his father's passion for coin collecting and remained an avid coin collector his entire life. Pat had a special love for Tybee Island. Pat had a strong loyalty to his God, Country, family, and friends. He truly loved people and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who shared life with him. Pat is survived by his cousin, Louis G. Waldhour and Harriette Waldhour, L. Gregory Waldhour of Savannah, Regina and Perry Minyard of Cumming, Georgia and several additional cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and an infant brother, Jack Joseph Laves. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:30 at Fox & Weeks on Hodgson Memorial Drive. A Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in Hillcrest Abbey East.
