Michael Anthony Shurtleff

Michael Anthony Shurtleff, 39, of Scottdale, GA, passed away after a long illness on March 27, 2013. He was born in Calambrone, Pisa, Italy on September 30, 1974 where his father was stationed with the U.S. Army at Camp Darby. Mike attended Liberty County schools and graduated from Bradwell Institute in 1990. He received a Bachelor of fine arts from Valdosta State University and was a graduate student at Georgia State University. He worked for Turner-Time Warner, Cartoon Network until his health failed. Mike was a Cub Scout with pack 500, Hinesville United Methodist Church and recived the Arrow of Light Award. He bridged to Troop 500 where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a Brotherhood member of the Tomochichi Lodge Order of the Arrow. He had over 25 years in Scouting. Mike was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church. Mike is predeceased by his father, Charles Shurtleff and his grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Lillian Shurtleff and her companion, Gerald Leland; brother, Charles (Chip) Shurtleff III, and his fiancé Connie Kersey; Aunts and Uncles Ardell and Bill Thornton; Joanne Auer; Frank Radocy; and Paula and Rick Radocy and several cousins. Arrangements are pending. A memorial service with internment of ashes will be held at St. Philip's Episcopal Church at a future date.
