Richmond Hill Martha Ter Laan Rabbitt, 94, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Bryan County Health & Rehabilitation after a long illness. Martha was a former owner/operator of Dutch Mill Lock and Key on Hilton Head Island, SC and later of Kiawah Island, SC. Martha's business made benches, lighting, signs, picnic tables, mailboxes, along with locksmithing for condo and houses on the Islands. She was a member of the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church. Martha is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Vernon Worthington Rabbitt; her parents, John and Jennie Kok Ter Laan; sister, Tena Schaalma (Albert); and 2 brothers, Ted Ter Laan and Jack Ter Laan (Frances). She is survived by her children and in-laws, Judy and Phil Jones of Richmond Hill, GA, Darryl and Doris Rabbitt of Fleming Island, FL and Linda Litaker of Jacksonville, FL; 6 grandchildren, Lisa Humrich (Barry), Angella Williams (Jimmie), Renee Hayes (Peter), Christy Rabbitt, Amber Litaker, and Drew Litaker; 7 great grandchildren, Justin and Zachariah Humrich, AJ and Kevin Watt, Bradley Butler, Ashton Williams, and Parker Williams; and a special friend Anne Linedmeier. A special thank you is extended for Dr. Nicholas Costrini, Dr. Christopher Kuettner and the staff of Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Plantation Memorial Gardens in Moncks Corner, SC.
