Eduardo J. Mattaden

October 19, 1941 — August 21, 2013

Hinesville Master Sergeant Eduardo J. Mattaden, 71, died at his residence under the care of Hospice of Savannah. He was a native of Panama and retired from the US Army after 24 years of service. During his tenure in the Army, he earned the Purple Heart, served in Vietnam from 1965-1967, Korea 1972, and Desert Storm 1990-1991. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Laura Mattaden; a daughter, Karen Jackson (Tony) of Richmond Hill; a son, Ed Mattaden (Nykki) of McDonough, GA ; a brother, Henry Mattaden of Panama; three sisters, Sonia Telesca, Lydia Quinonez, and Mirna Rivas all of Panama; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. with a funeral mass to begin at 11:00 at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Father Adam Kasela officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville with full military honors. Carter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
