Jo Ella McCabe Patterson

Hinesville, GA Jo Ella McCabe Patterson, 88, died Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Coastal Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Coffeyville, KS, but lived most of her life in Hinesville. She was a member of Hinesville First United Methodist Church and Ollie Darsey Sunday School Class. Mrs. Patterson met Marvin, her future husband, in Wichita, KS, when she was employed at a defense plant and he was in training there for the Army Air Corps. They married and he went on to serve in the South Pacific. She moved to Georgia to live with his parents until the end of the war. Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Marvin Patterson; brothers, Lester, Raymond, and Irwin McCabe and sister, Rocena Ulrich. . She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Burch (Gary) of Hinesville; son, Alan Patterson (Ruth) of Midway; grandchildren, Aaron Brewer (Kristi) and Carly Patterson; great grandchildren, Caroline and Adam Brewer and Madilyn Talley; brother, Ed McCabe of Hays, KS; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Hinesville Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Steven Patterson, Neal Patterson, and William Patterson. Honorary pall bearers will be members of the Ollie Darsey Sunday School Class of Hinesville First United Methodist Church.
