Jeanette Faulk

June 2, 1933 — November 6, 2013

Jeanette Wallace Faulk passed away Wednesday Afternoon, Wednesday 11/6/2013 after a long illness. Jeanette was born in Pooler and attended Savannah High. She graduated from Georgia Teacher's College in Statesboro, where she met her future husband, Latham Faulk, of Brunswick. Their first son, Blair, was born after their first year teaching in Savannah. Their lives changed dramatically when they moved their family to Decatur, GA. Latham attended Emory University, graduating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery. Jeanette not only taught school, but also worked a night job with Latham until he graduated from Dental School. They moved to Garden City and Latham started his dental practice. In early years, Jeanette often brought Latham's supper to him as he worked into the night with patients. They had two more sons, William, also a dentist in Garden City, and David, a psychiatrist in Brunswick, GA. Jeanette and Latham lived in Garden City for over 20 years. Jeanette cultivated a variety of creative outlets: she painted in oils and acrylics, sewed, and served as a dedicated wife and mother. She and Latham traveled widely in the US and abroad. Together, they enjoyed a variety of hobbies and experiences including their large Sunday School class at Bull Street Baptist Church, dining out, and dancing. They lived in Sunbury and later in Richmond Hill during their latter years. Jeanette continued to be highly creative. She was intensely interested in Chinese watercolors. She had her own "one woman show" in New York City twenty years ago. She was a very prolific watercolorist until recent years. She specialized in large, colorful, expressive paintings. In the early1990s, Jeanette survived lung cancer and successfully weathered a second form of cancer four years ago. Only two months after their 50th Anniversary, cancer claimed Latham's life. Despite limitations left from her bouts with illness, Jeanette lived alone with devoted helpers until one year ago. She occasionally taught watercolor painting and had a Bible Study in her home. She joyfully called St. Elizabeth of Hungary Episcopal Church, "My Church." Members there lived out the calling of Jesus by helping and loving her selflessly. She will be missed by all, including 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Remembrances to the Steeple Fund, St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, 16491 Georgia 144, Richmond Hill, GA 31324 To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Jeanette Faulk, please visit our flower store.
