Beverly Black Coffer, 80, of Fleming passed away Wednesday, February 5, after a short illness. Mrs. Coffer was born July 15, 1933, in Clarkesville, GA, to the late Lester and Oma Gastley Black. She retired from Coastal Cablevision after more than 20 years of service. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Mrs. Coffer was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, the Saints Sunday School Class, and the Ladies Bible Study Group. She was also a member of the Liberty Coastal Lions Club. Mrs. Coffer was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry Black and John Larry Black; brothers-in-law, Tyson Cruce and Chuck Green; sisters-in-law, Mary Louise West and Elizabeth Coffer. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, M.L. Coffer; daughters, Angie Rogers (David) and Amy Bowen (Pat); grandchildren, Jason Rogers (Tracey), Pam Proman (Allen), Briana and Beverly Bowen; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Rogers and Trey and Payton Proman, all of Fleming; sisters, Margaret Bellisle (Bill), Carolyn Landrum (Everett), Barbara Green, and Beth Black; brother, Jimmy Black (Linda Jean), all of Clarkesville; sisters-in-law, Carol Black of Duluth, Linda Marshall of Clarkesville, and Thressa Morgan of Guyton; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 7, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, with Reverend John Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patrick Bowen, Paul (Bubba) Crowley, Clay Godley, Joey Norris, Alfred Woods, and Don Woods. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Saints Sunday School Class and the Mt. Olivet Ladies Bible Study Group. Remembrances may be made to the Mt. Olivet Building Fund, 455 Mt. Olivet Church Road, Fleming, GA, 31309.
