Hilda Bacon Neely

Hinesville Hilda Mae Bacon Neely, 83, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at Coastal Manor Nursing Home in Ludowici. Mrs. Neely was born on January 20, 1931, in Hinesville, GA. She attended Liberty County Schools and graduated from Bradwell Institute. She attended Georgia Teachers College, now Georgia Southern University, in Statesboro, GA. Her first job was in the Civilian Personnel Office at Fort Stewart, GA, and she continued in civil service until her retirement from the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Miami, FL, in 1995. She returned to Hinesville in 2001 to be near her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Harley A. and Jordye M. Bacon, and daughter, Janet N. McGee. She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Hal and Joye Neely of Sterlington, LA, Perry Neely of Hinesville, GA, and Jay and Susan Neely of Midway, GA; grandchildren, Kim Graf, Kelly Ward, and Caitlynn, Courtney, Parker and Seth Neely; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Graf, Jonathan Dalman, and Jeremiah Dalman; sisters and spouses, Claudia B. Smith of Hinesville, Ga, June and Jerry Salter of Midway, GA, and Joye and Bob Blyer of Canton, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Jeremy Lormis officiating. Burial will be in the Hinesville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Parker and Seth Neely; nephews, Gene Salter, Chuck Smith, Michael Smith, and Jimmy Martin. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, American Cancer Society, or Hinesville Cemetery.
