Violet Summerall

September 24, 1924 — July 6, 2014

Hinesville Violet J. Summerall, also known as, Matuce, 89, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital after a sudden illness. She was married to William P. Troutman, Jr, US Navy retired, of Wilmington, NC until his passing in 1967. She then married James Summerall of Jacksonville, FL until his death. Ms. Summerall was a devoted and spirited mother, mother -in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother. Matuce's passion was cooking for her family and friends. She also dearly loved animals of any kind. She was a member of Hinesville First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Babs and George Holtzman of Hinesville, who she cared for and lived with for 33 years; a grandson and his wife, Gregory and Isabel Holtzman of St. Louis, MO; two great grandchildren, Elisa and Ethan Holtzman; many nieces and nephews; and her adopted "daughter", Dee Baker. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the home of Babs and George Holtzman located at 801 Forest St Hinesville. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Hinesville First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Dale Thornton. Burial services will be Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, Fl. Remembrances can be made to the Liberty County Humane Society PO Box 1481 Hinesville, Georgia 31310 or the Hinesville First United Methodist Church Sound Equipment Fund 203 N. Main St. Hinesville, GA 31313. Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
