Fleming Judy C. Norris, 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Murphy, NC, she was a high school drum major and her class valedictorian. She turned down three college scholarships to marry Joe (Bubba) Norris and move to Georgia. She retired from Manpower after 30 years of exemplary service as a Management Analyst, and was a member in good standing of the Tuesday Night Bridge Club for over fifty years. A longtime member of the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, she served on the administrative board in many capacities over the years. Judy loved her church and the community of Fleming and will be greatly missed by both. She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Odom (Johnny) of Savannah, and son, Joey Norris of Fleming; sister, Jane Maresca (Bill) of Palm Coast, FL; brother, John Cook (Charlene) of Murphy, NC; grandchildren, Chelsea Welch, Billy Welch (Lorah), Rebecca Odom, Megan Odom, Joseph Norris, and Jack Norris; great grandchild, Dayne Welch; nephew, Jason Cook; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at Carter Funeral Home with Rev. John Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery in Fleming. Pallbearers will be John Henry Rogers, Pete Clark, Mo Gill, Don Youmans, Alfred Woode, and Allen Proman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Palmer Dasher, members of the Administrative Board of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and members of the Tuesday Night Bridge Club.
