MSG Rochel Chambers, Jr. (US ARMY, ret.), 62, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 29, 2014. Born on April 27, 1952 in Fort Benning, GA, he was a resident of Hinesville, Georgia, for the last twenty years. He graduated from St. Paul High School in Campbellton, Florida, and also attended Armstrong University where he studied Elementary Education. Rochel joined the military (US Army) at an early age and it was in the Army that he met the love of his life. He retired in 1996 after 23 years of dedicated service. He was a devoted and loyal family man. Rochel's other great love was fishing. His favorite story was that he had caught the biggest fish ever in the history of the Chambers family stats. Rochel loved God with all his heart and accepted Christ as his personal savior. He was preceded in death by his father, Rochel Chambers, Sr. His is survived by his wife, Anna Maria Luise "Molly" Chambers; son, Steven Chambers (Ora) of Atlanta GA; daughter, Shalisa Stoddard (Omar) of Germany (US ARMY); grandson, Noah Stoddard; mother, Lula B. Chambers of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Dr. Balenda Fulton (William) of Jacksonville, Joyce Prince (Shedrick) of Jacksonville, and Janet Mercer (Tony) of Orlando, FL; three brothers, David King Chambers of Jacksonville, Larry Chambers (Sheilah) of Cary, NC, and Michael Chambers (Kita), of Waldorf, MD; aunt, Eula Mae McAlister, and uncle, Benjamin Bowden, both of Campbellton, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 3, at South Main Baptist Church, with viewing for one hour prior. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville. Evangelist Joyce Prince will be officiating. Rochel's nephews will serve as pallbearers and his nieces will serve as flower attendants. Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
