Hugh Marshall Worsham

Hugh Marshall Worsham of Richmond Hill passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014 surrounded by his wife and children. Born May 22, 1924 in Covington, Georgia, he was the son of the late Charles Cannon Worsham and Lavinia Jones Worsham. He graduated Covington High School and then served with honor in Western Europe during World War II. Upon his discharge as Army Staff Sergeant with the 759th Field Artillery Battalion, he enrolled at Emory University, where he received a degree in chemical engineering. He spent his career in the pulp and paper industry and retired as environmental compliance specialist from Interstate Paper Company in 1989. He was a charter member of the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church, where he served as both a deacon and elder. Marshall loved books and fine tools, and traveled extensively with his wife throughout the United States and Canada. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Mary Estes Worsham; daughter Sharon Elizabeth Worsham; son Hugh Marshall "Mark" Worsham, Jr. (Lori); daughter Mary Ann Worsham; and grandchildren Stephen Jordan, Mae Jordan, Benjamin Worsham, Marshall Worsham, and John Michael Worsham. He was predeceased by his son Richard Eugene Worsham. Visitation will be held at Carter Funeral Home in Richmond Hill on Thursday, October 30, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Bryan Neck Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
