Ludowici Marianne Franks, 68, died Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Memorial Health University Medical Center after a long illness. She was born in Weiden, Germany, and has lived in the Hinesville area since 1979. She was of the Lutheran faith and was an avid bowler and football fan. One of her happiest days was when she became a United States citizen. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Natascha Lynn Franks and her parents, Magdalena and Hermann Krauss. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Doug Franks of Ludowici; daughter and son-in-law, Demy Charmaine and Mike Alamo of Hinesville; two grandsons, Michael Alamo, Jr., and Richard Douglas Rhodes; one granddaughter, Alyssa Martinez, three great-grandaughters, Lexi, Kara and Harley; brother, Gerhard Krauss of Germany; sisters, Christa Heuston of Nebraska, Erika McRight of South Carolina, Magda Mertz of Germany and Heidi Ruppert of Germany; several nieces and nephews; and her best friends, Karin Fox Miller and Millie Bowen. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Burial will follow at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
