June Bailey Burge

June 12, 1934 — May 23, 2015

Hinesville June Bailey Burge, 80, went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 23, 2015, from Woodland Health and Rehab in Midway. June Bailey Burge was born to Mack and Dovie Bailey on June 12, 1934 in Rome Georgia. She was the third oldest of six children; five girls and one boy. June married her high school sweetheart, Charles E. Burge and had five children: Jerry, David, Wanda, Charles and Oberia. June worked at numerous nursing homes throughout her life: She was always caring for the sick and elderly. From a young age, her desire was to be a good wife and mother, a dream that most certainly did come true. June was a member of Love Joy Baptist Church in Rome Georgia as a very young girl. She loved reading and studying the bible. She memorized various scriptures and the books of the bible as a girl. As an Army wife, she made sure that wherever they were stationed the family attended the local church. Currently June is a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Hinesville, Georgia, where she loved attending adult Sunday school. Proceeding her in death is her husband Charles E. Burge; sons David and Charles; her parents Mack and Dovie Bailey; and sisters Dovie and Joan. June leaves behind her son, Jerry V. Burge; daughters, Wanda K. Tucker and Oberia M. Bass; sisters Laura Brown and Wanda McLendon; brother, Coleman Mack Bailey; four grandsons, ten granddaughters, two great-grandsons, five great-granddaughters, and one on the way; two sisters-in-law, Oberia Butler and Mary Reynolds; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Hinesville with Dr. Alvin L. Jackson and Pastor Lance G. Tucker officiating. Entombment will follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Park Mausoleum. Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.carteroglethorpe.com.
