Born in Prosperity SC on September 20,1936, Hugh was an Air Force veteran and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Lewis. He played five years of varsity football at Prosperity High School where he is remembered as fun loving and irreverent. As a teen he grew and sold sweet potatoes to earn his spending money. He continued this entrepreneur spirit for the next fifty years. First by owning and operating a Gulf full service gas station and then later Huey Lewis Used Cars.
