SFC Alfred Kenneth Lockett (US Army, retired), 73, died Sunday at Candler/St. Joseph Hospital. Born in Sebring, FL, SFC Lockett was a resident of Hinesville for thirty-five years. He was a Vietnam Veteran, retired from the US Army after 24 years of service, and a retired civil servant from Fort Stewart. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hinesville and was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie E. Lockett of Hinesville; sons, Anthony K. Lockett (Val) currently attending the Sergeant Major Academy in Fort Bliss, TX, and Alfred K. Lockett, Jr., (Maria) of Boston, MA; one goddaughter, Danielle Jackson of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Larry Pope of Augusta, GA; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-5 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. A memorial service with Full Military Honors will follow in the chapel at 5:00 p.m. with Reverend Deacon Chad Chaffee officiating.
