Hinesville MSG Riley E. Martin (US Army, Retired), 75, died Saturday at his home under the care of Hospice Savannah. A native of Tampa, Florida, he was a resident of Hinesville for 40 years. He served two tours in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne and retired from the US Army after 21 years of service. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 271 and the Lions Club. He was also a Shriner and was with the Alee Temple, Scottish Rite Temple, and the Hillbilly Unit, as well as being a Road Runner for the Shriners Children's Hospital in Tampa. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara D. Martin of Hinesville; children, Riley Dennis Martin of John's Creek, GA, Wendy Cooper of Savannah, Richard Allen Martin of Montgomery, TX, Randel Eugene Martin of Montgomery, TX, Robert K. Martin of Hinesville, and Rhonda M. Nuttall of Hinesville; one brother, Larry Dennis Martin of Tampa; one sister, Linda Johnson of Tampa; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6-8pm, Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Noel Cooper officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Martin's memory to the Shriners Children's Hospital (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/en/donate), 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
