Nancy Mitcham Rogers, 72, died Monday at Liberty Regional Medical Center after a long illness. A lifelong resident of Ludowici, she was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Georgia, class of 1965. She was a Juvenile Program Manager for the Department of Juvenile Justice before retiring after 30 years of service. She was a member of Ludowici First Baptist Church and a former Board Member of the Liberty County Hospital Authority. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marrion Mitcham, sister, Claira Mitcham, and husband, John U. Rogers. She is survived by her sons, James E. Rogers, II, (Angie) of Walthourville; Walter D. Rogers (Joanna) of Glennville; sister, Marrion Mitcham (Michael Martin) of Claxton; five grandchildren, Kelsey (Earl), Karson, Mitch, Creighton, and Durham; a ton of adopted grandchildren; friend and former husband, James E. (Pops) Rogers of Ludowici; several aunts and one uncle. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Mrs. Rogers will lie in state from 10 until 11 am and the Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Ludowici First Baptist Church with Reverend Eric Rentz officiating. Burial will be in Jones Creek Baptist Church Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be Allen Troha, Robert Troha, Darrel Gaskin, Dwayne Gaskin, Dennis Guyett, and Josh Guyett.
