LT COL Eugene S. Pedrick

LT COL Eugene S. (Gene) Pedrick (US ARMY, retired), 84, died Monday, November 9, 2015, at his residence. A native of Fitzgerald, Georgia, he was a resident of Hinesville since 1990. He was a 1950 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and the quarterback of the 1948 State Champion Fitzgerald High School Football team. He graduated from Furman University, where he was the starting quarterback for three years. As a helicopter pilot in the United States Army, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. He retired a Lieutenant Colonel after twenty years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hinesville. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marsha Pedrick of Hinesville; sons, Mark Pedrick (Nan) of Hinesville, Kent Pedrick (Kayla) of Glennville, and Scott Pedrick of Fitzgerald; six grandchildren, Evan, Emily, Colby, Zachary, Alexandra, and Reagan Pedrick; and a sister, Martha Stenson of Fitzgerald. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. in the Frank Church Cemetery, 546 Frank Church Road, Ocilla, GA 31774.
